Deborah Ramirez, a Colorado resident, and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford both waited more than 30 years to report alleged sexual assaults by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Even President Trump questioned that length of time in a series of tweets, such as: "Why didn't someone call the FBI 36 years ago?"
But many assault victims choose not to report right away, or perhaps ever. Brie Franklin, the executive director of the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault, talked to Colorado Matters about why survivors choose to wait to report their assault allegations.
