Last year, Colorado's Furniture Row Racing became the only NASCAR team outside of the Carolinas to ever win a national championship. But for an organization that once had a hard time gaining any respect at all, that claim to fame hasn't come easily, team president Joe Garone tells Colorado Matters. He says last season could've been disastrous. There was illness, followed by more sickness. But in the final stages of the year's last race in November in Miami, the team's fortunes changed. In less than three weeks, Furniture Row will defend its title in a new season, at the Daytona 500.
