Adolph Hitler's personal physician was a man named Karl Brandt. He ordered experiments on people against their will and helped carry out mass killings and was hanged in 1948 after a U.S. military trial in Nuremburg, Germany. Like many Nazi doctors, Brandt argued that what he did was a benefit to public health.
The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus wants students to learn history of the Holocaust, which killed more than six million Jews. Also important to know, says Dr. Matthew Wynnia, who directs CU Anschutz's Center for Bioethics and Humanities, are the secret public health campaigns that began in the late 1930s and the roles that medical professionals played in them. Colorado Dr. William Silvers pledged $100,000 for programs to teach the history on campus and Wynnia spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner.
