Red Rocks Amphitheatre turns 75 this summer, but long before the stage and seats were built it was celebrated for its natural acoustics.
The first known concert took place there May 30, 1906, when Pietro Satriano and his brass band performed on a makeshift wooden platform. Since then, Red Rocks has hosted thousands of shows. G. Brown, director of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame, has written a history of the amphitheatre. It’s called, “Red Rocks: The Concert Years.” He spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner.
