Shawn King is best known as the drummer and trumpeter for DeVotchKa. As a member of the beloved Denver band, he's toured the world and played arena concerts in front of 80,000 people as well as intimate shows in our performance studio.
For nearly 15 years, King has played with his heroes and discovered new bands. He has received a Grammy nomination, scored films and recently took on a side-project scoring a play alongside Raul Pacheco of Ozomatli as Los Dreamers.
On our latest Guest DJ edition, King joins host Alisha Sweeney to talk about his latest project as well as the time his high school band opened up for The Ramones. He shares a story about using The Roots member ?uestlove's drum kit at a Prince tribute concert as well as becoming friends with St. Vincent backstage at a festival because he was admiring her pedal board. King also reveals DeVotchKa's plan for an upcoming record.
