Bonnaroo announces 2015 lineup
Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, taking place June 11-14 in Manchester, Tenn., has revealed its initial music lineup for 2015. Billy Joel, Mumford & Sons, Kendrick Lamar and Florence + the Machine will headline.
The bill also includes Spoon, My Morning Jacket, Belle & Sebastian, Sylvan Esso, Benjamin Booker and Gregory Alan Isakov. See the full lineup via Bonnaroo's website.
DeVotchKa's Nick Urata scores "Paddington" film
Nick Urata, frontman for Colorado band DeVotchKa, has provided the original soundtrack for the film "Paddington." The film is based on the children's book character Paddington Bear created by Michael Bond. It opens Jan. 16 in the U.S. and stars Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins and Nicole Kidman.
Urata has previously provided music for films like "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Crazy, Stupid, Love." [via Colorado Music Buzz]
New releases announced this week
A number of notable new music releases for 2015 were announced this week:
- Sufjan Stevens will return with "Carrie & Lowell," his first new album in five years. It's out March 31.
- Icelandic experimentalist Bjork will release her ninth album, "Vulnicura," in March.
- Death Cab for Cutie's "Kintsugi," the band's first album without founding member Chris Walla, is out March 31.
- Waxahatchee, the moniker of singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield, has announced the follow-up to 2013's "Cerulean Salt." "Ivy Tripp" is out April 7.
- Electronica duo Purity Ring will release sophomore album "Another Eternity" on March 3.
