Join us Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Tattered Cover on Colfax, when Colorado author and Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy will join “Colorado Matters” host Ryan Warner to talk about her new memoir, “On My Own Two Feet: From Losing My Legs to Learning the Dance of Life.”
A resident of Frisco, Colo., Amy uses prosthetic legs after a severe case of bacterial meningitis contracted at age 19. She is now the top-ranked female adaptive snowboarder in the U.S. and was a finalist on season 18 of “Dancing with the Stars.”
In her poignant and uplifting memoir, Amy reveals how a near-death experience and losing her legs led her to find a spiritual path. Come hear how one woman came back from the brink of death to make history on the slopes and dance on national television.
The event is free to attend. Seating is limited and available on a first-come-first-served basis. If you can’t attend, listen to the interview on CPR News the week of Feb. 16.
This event is part of our monthly series, “Colorado Matters at the Tattered,” which features interviews with Colorado authors and authors who write about Western issues.
Listen to past interviews, including the most recent January event with novelist and human rights expert Ausma Zehanat Khan, and stay tuned for information on the March event.
