The last of Denver's old-time mobsters died in October, ending a colorful chapter of city history. Clarence “Chauncey†Smaldone was the youngest of three brothers who operated out of a North Denver restaurant, Gaetano's. Flashy in their wide-brimmed hats and floral ties, they ran gambling and loan-sharking for a good part of the last century. Ryan Warner talks to Denver Post columnist Dick Kreck.
