At least two wildfires are still burning in Southern Colorado. As of early this afternoon (6/23/10), a 700 acre fire west of Canon City was about 15 percent contained. A larger fire is burning in and around the Great Sand Dunes National Park. It isn't threatening any buildings, but it's grown to nearly 5-thousand acres. Residents got an update at a public meeting last night in the town of Gardner, east of where the fire is burning.Reporter Shanna Lewis was at that meeting. She talked with Colorado Public Radio's Anna Panoka about how residents are managing, and the approach that firefighters are taking, for now.
