Citizens Project hosted a voter forum for Colorado Springs area residents this week, featuring discussions from state legislative candidates, commissioner candidates, and about state ballot initiatives Amendment 64 and Amendment 65. Please note: Executive Directer of Citizens Project, Kristy Milligan, says the group extended invitations to all state Senate District 10 candidates, all House District 15-20 candidates, and all candidates for county commission. In total, seven of the 30 invited candidates participated. Here is an excerpt from Milligan's opening remarks:
Like each and every Citizens Project forum, all candidates received multiple invitations to attend tonight’s event. Admittedly, we are disappointed that for the first time in this forum’s 20-year history, many candidates elected not to participate in person or in writing. In the next hour, you’ll hear from those candidates who are eager to meet potential supporters face to face and ask for their vote.

Amendment 64: Marijuana Legalization
Amendment 64 deals with the legalization of small amounts of marijuana. Arguing in favor of Amendment 64 is Betty Aldworth, Advocacy Director for 'Yes on 64.' Arguing against Amendment 64 is District Attorney Dan May.

Amendment 65: Campaign Finance
Amendment 65 deals with campaign finance. Speaking in favor of Amendment 65 is Ken Gordon, former state legislator. Speaking against, is Barry Fagin, a successful plaintiff before the Supreme Court on a First Amendment issue.
