Pueblo County has released a new interactive map showing flood damage for the past year. KRCC’s Eliza Densmore reports.
The main purpose of the map is to share information with state agencies and FEMA.
Chris Markuson directs the county’s Department of Economic Development and Geographic Information Systems. He says it allows the county to identify who was affected by this summer’s flooding, and what kind of losses they may have had.
"By showing all of that we could actually summarize the total loss to the community both private as well as public so road infrastructure, things like culverts and even ditches that were affected by that flooding."
Residents self-reported damages to county commissioners and the sheriff’s office to help generate the information. It’ll be updated as more information comes in.
