The season starts with a bang Sept. 18-19 with Music Director Andrew Litton conducting Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and “Choral Fantasy for Piano, Chorus and Orchestra.”

- Violinist Gil Shaham visits Oct. 3, 4 and 5 to play Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D in a concert that also includes Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5. [[nid:104079 field_align=_none]]
- Conductor Laureate Marin Alsop returns to Denver Nov. 1-2 for a concert of Mahler’s “Titan” Symphony No. 1, Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 and John Adams’ “Short Ride in a Fast Machine.” Alsop’s protege Karina Canellakis also takes a turn at the podium. [[nid:104092 field_align=_none]]
- Mozart’s “Requiem” with conductor/violinist Pinchas Zukerman Nov. 7-9. The all-Mozart program includes “Rondo for Violin” and Orchestra, “Adagio for Violin and Orchestra,” and soprano Arianna Zukerman on “Exsultate Jubilate.” [[nid:104095 field_align=_none]]
- A series of “American Festival” programs in February and March 2015. The programs include George Gershwin’s “Cuban Overture”; Leonard Bernstein’s Symphony No. 2, “Age of Anxiety”; Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto; two pieces by Kevin Puts; and an appearance by So Percussion. - A program juxtaposing the first and second Viennese schools, featuring pianist Natasha Paremski on Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 as well as “Verklarte Nacht” by Arnold Schoenberg. [[nid:104099 field_align=_none]]
- The symphony plays “The Raven,” a world-premiere piece by composer and Colorado Symphony principal timpanist William Hill, coupled with Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite” on March 27-28, 2015. [[nid:104097 field_align=_none]]
- A series of “Geek Concerts” including “Animaniacs” on Sept. 26; a symphonic tribute to Denver Comic Con on Nov. 15; and Danny Elfman scores from Tim Burton films on Feb. 6-7, 2015. [[nid:104103 field_align=_none]]
- Several concerts featuring solos from first-chair musicians in the symphony, including cellist Silver Ainomae playing Dvorark’s Cello Concerto Nov. 21-23, and concertmaster Yumi Hwang-Williams and flutist Brook Ferguson featured on a Jan. 16-17 program of Bach’s “Brandenburg” Concerto No. 5 and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4. - Concerts featuring the Colorado Symphony Chorus under the direction of Duain Wolfe, including performances of Puccini’s “Tosca” and Mozart’s Requiem. The chorus is celebrating its 30th anniversary. [[nid:104102 field_align=none]]
