Denver's Paramount Theatre was overrun with costumed fans of the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones" last Thursday night for the screening of the season four premiere episode.
While the episode won't officially run on HBO until April 6, the network hosted an advance screening at New York's Avery Fisher Hall on March 18 and followed that up with last Thursday's Denver screening.
"We did this in Denver because we wanted to engage with our fanbase," HBO Director of Corporate Affairs David Castro says. "Denver ranks among the top 15 cities for ‘Game of Thrones’ fans."
"Game Of Thrones" is an epic fantasy series with similarities to "Lord Of The Rings" adapted from the novel series "Songs of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin.
Following the costume contest hosted by CW 2's Chris Parente, the crowd in Denver became boisterous and uninhibited during the screening at the Paramount Theatre. They booed for the villains and cheered for the heroes.
"It was so great to dork-out with other fans of the show," Jodee Champion says. Champion attended the screening dressed like as "Game of Thrones" character Daenerys Targaryen.
HBO will also be hosting similar events in Austin, Texas, and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
