One Lakewood youngster may have his doodle appear on Google's home page.
Ryan Shea, a seventh-grader from Creighton Middle School, is the state winner in the Doodle 4 Google contest which is open to K-12 students across the nation.
Shea’s doodle “The Universal Nexus” was selected from tens of thousands of entries this year and guest judges chose his doodle as one of 10 national finalists selected in the sixth to seventh grade category. If Shea wins, his doodle will appear on Google.com.
Voting for the 10 finalists in all K-12 grade categories is open until May 9. A public vote will determine the five national finalists.
Google will announce these five national finalists, and the grand prize winner, on May 21 during a ceremony in Mountain View, California.
The winner of Doodle 4 Google Contest will work with Google professionals to animate their doodle, which will be displayed on Google.com on June 9. The winner will also receive a $30,000 scholarship and a $50,000 Google for Education technology grant for his or her school.
