Investigators say there’s not enough evidence to file charges in connection with last year’s devastating Black Forest Fire.
A summary of the investigation [.pdf] says natural causes were ruled out. The Sheriff’s Department says metallic particles were found at the site of ignition, which investigators say could have been associated with the source of the fire. Tests to determine the origin of those particles were inconclusive. In addition, investigators say the fire’s origin is in an area not readily accessible from a roadway.
Last year’s Black Forest Fire killed two people and destroyed more than 480 homes. The investigation is considered closed, but the Sheriff’s Department says they’ll still look into any credible leads.
