Four Denver police officers were hit by a car while watching a high school demonstration protesting last week’s grand jury verdict in Ferguson.
The decision not to charge Officer Darren Wilson sparked demonstrations across the country, including in Colorado Springs.
In Denver, nearly 1,000 East High School students walked out of class Wednesday and marched to the capitol. Students say the actual march was not planned.
Still, officers shut down streets so students could cross.
According to the Denver Post, the officers were on bicycles, and were hit by a black Mercedes on Colfax Street as they were escorting the students back to school. The paper reports one officer is in critical condition, while another had serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody.
