local landmark district if non-profit Historic Denver is successful.
On Tuesday, the group will host a meeting at 6 p.m. at the L2 church about getting the park a new historical designation.
City Park -- opened in 1882 -- is already on the National Register of Historic Places.
But Historic Denver’s director, Annie Levinsky, says the change could affect new building in the park.
"If there were to be a new structure, a new parking lot, a new roadway, there would be an additional review process with the historic nature of the park in mind," explained Levinsky.
Dozens of Denver neighborhoods, and Civic Center Park near the State Capitol are already local landmark districts.
