Fort Collins will be one of six American "Places of Invention" in a new Smithsonian exhibit, and the only city representing contemporary innovations, reports the Coloradoan.
Joyce Bedi, a historian with the Smithsonian's Lemelson Center, told the paper that Boulder, Denver and a few other cities were in the running to represent today's innovations. In the end, they decided to showcase Fort Collins' clean-energy solutions because of how the city collaborates:
Fort Collins "overarching character of collaboration" sealed its place in the exhibit. Strong ties between leaders from CSU, city government and local businesses drive innovation, Bedi said. That level of collaboration wasn't found in Boulder, Denver and other areas.
