The Denver Public School Board has named the district’s chief of schools as the new acting superintendent of the district.
Susana Cordova will fill in while Superintendent Tom Boasberg takes unpaid family leave to travel in Latin America for six months. Cordova is a DPS graduate, and has been a classroom teacher, a principal, chief academic officer and chief schools officer. She begins in her new position Jan. 1.
Boasberg has said he plans to return in six months for several more years as superintendent.
