The Colorado Economic Development Commission awarded the city of Denver more than $121 million to help fund the remake of the National Western Complex, which will include new livestock and equestrian centers. The city aims to turn its aging stock show grounds into a year-round tourist attraction.
The commission also awarded $81 million for a northern Colorado initiative that will create new water parks in Loveland, an upscale hotel and conference center in Windsor, and a horror film center at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park.
The money awarded will come from a state tourism funding program.
