AARP is about to launch the biggest political TV ad buy of the season, focusing on Social Security.
Viewers of NBC programs and 9NEWS broadcasts in Denver will soon see ads by AARP like this one:
According to public records, AARP has purchased 420 spots from the end of January through February. It paid more than $350,000.
AARP doesn’t support a candidate, but says its ad campaign is about making Social Security’s solvency a presidential issue.
A recent government report projects that without reform the Social Security program could run into serious financial trouble within 15 years.
