Top-ranking partisans in the Colorado Legislature have surprising opinions about Congress and the replacement for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
Republican Senate President Bill Cadman said Tuesday the U.S. Senate should not try to stop President Barack Obama from nominating a replacement for Scalia.
The top-ranking Democrat, House Speaker Dickey Lee Hullinghorst, agrees. But she says that's her personal opinion and that it would be "a waste of time" for state lawmakers to weigh in on the matter.
Cadman's opinion differs from other Republicans, including U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado, who want President Obama to defer the decision for Scalia's replacement to the next president.
