Last Sunday night more than a thousand people came together at Denver's Tracks nightclub in a vigil for the victims of a mass shooting in Orlando, Florida. Among those holding candles and standing quietly near the back of the gathering were uniformed officers of the Aurora Police Department, reminding those present of the link between the Orlando shooting and the movie theater attack in their own city four years ago.
"Unfortunately we know what they’re going through today in Orlando. And every time one of these things happens, it’s hard. But we recovered from it, and we know they will too," Lt. Stephen Redfearn told CPR's Megan Verlee. "We wanted to come and just show our brothers and sisters that we’re here with them and they have the support of the police department."
Now, the department has posted a video elaborating on its link to police officers in Orlando:
