Colorado Libertarians are touting a big increase in voter registrations this year. Since January, active registrations with the party have grown by almost a third.
The party currently boasts 34,000 registered members in Colorado, which equals just over 1 percent of the state’s active voters. Almost 10,000 new members have joined the party since the start of the year, with a third of that growth coming just in September.
This has been a good year for Colorado’s third parties, at least in terms of membership. The Green Party also grew by around a third, to more than 10,000 active voters.
Colorado’s major parties gained members more slowly this year. This month the number of active Democratic voters surpassed that of Republicans for the first time in decades.
