The Colorado State Forest Service is reminding folks to keep up with watering their trees throughout the winter.
The recommendation comes after a string of dry weather conditions and a moderate drought listing in eastern Colorado.
Keith Wood is a community forester with the state forest service. He says winter watering is especially important when there's been a lack of snow cover for a couple of weeks.
"Typically we'll see winter burn or pretty significant damage on the pines and spruces when we have these dry periods in the winter," he said.
Wood also says residents should water their trees when it's warm out and over a wide area to help account for roots.
