Event Description

The Atomic Age refers to an era of world history that started with the explosive end of WWII and spanned the race to explore space. Mid-century artists and designers reflected both the optimism for a world of tomorrow and the dread of world annihilation. Their forms, styles, and color palettes connect with contemporary audiences, as we enjoy movies like Oppenheimer and Asteroid City, the resurgence of mid-mod inspired interior design, and the ubiquity of the ‘little black dress’.

As we approach 90 seconds to midnight on the Doomsday Clock, as well as unprecedented tech advances enhancing daily life, this call for entries asked artists to use the aesthetic of the Atomic Age as a point of inspiration/departure to express a idea or composition pertinent to their experience.

All mediums were considered.
