Cleo Parker Robinson Dance: Motown and More
When
Event Description
"Cleo Parker Robinson Dance collaborates with the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus to present Motown and More! From The Temptations to Lizzo, they celebrate a half-century of iconic African American pop music with its roots in the distinctive sounds of the Motor City and now permeates every genre of popular music today. The Cleo II ensemble will perform three world premiere works, choreographed by Ms. Parker Robinson specifically for this concert. In addition, Motown and More will feature the Colorado premiere of 'The Seven Last Words of the Unarmed' by Joel Thompson. The last words of seven unarmed black men – including Micahel Brown, Trayvon Martin, and Eric Garner—each killed by police or authority figures—inspired the lyrics for this powerful piece. Aurora’s Rangeview High School Choir will join for this powerful multi-movement choral piece."
