Event Description

Copper Street Brass, a Minneapolis-based sextet, is coming to Canon City on Monday, April 24th, at 7 PM in the Canon City HS auditorium. The “Brass” brings a fresh perspective to the brass quintet of two trumpets, trombone, tuba and French horn. Fusing brass instruments with keyboard, percussion, guitars and electronic instruments, “Brass” seeks to play all types of music in bold and innovative ways coupled with its friendly and charming stage presence. This will be the last concert of the Fremont County Community Concert Association’s 2022 – 2023 musical season. In addition to the evening concert, the Association is sponsoring a free outreach/mini-concert for students of Canon City H.S.
"That '70s Show" features unique takes on music from classical to opera, folk to jazz, pop to rock 'n roll, and yes even disco! From the big wigs of Mozart and Haydn to the big hair of Led Zeppelin and STYX, music from the '70s is covered in a whole new way. Copper Street Brass performs '70s music from three centuries - the 1770s, the 1870s, and the 1970s - with their signature arrangements and virtuosic performances. This show has been a huge hit with audiences of all ages, truly featuring something to make everyone to go home singing.
This show features The CSB covering famous classical and opera music as well as rock and pop tunes. This one-of-a-kind concert features music from Mozart and Brahms to popular selections from Bizet’s Carmen. The CSB goes big with innovative and fun covers of 1970’s rock and pop tunes by Fleetwood Mac, John Lennon, STYX, James Taylor and Led Zeppelin. Joining the quintet to rock out on drums is Twin Cities virtuoso percussionist Reid Kennedy.
The group’s sound has been described by reviewers as “flawless”, “polished” and “somewhere between magnificent and exquisite.” Their artistic excellence was widely recognized in 2013 when they were chosen as a finalist for the prestigious McKnight Artist Fellowship. Each of their individual artists is a master of his or her craft. Their five core musicians, Allison Hall, Josh Cameron, Tim Bradley, Alex Wolff and Nick Adragna have a combined nine professional music and education degrees and thousands of performances under their belts. The CSB’s artists have performed with world-renowned classical ensembles like the Minnesota Orchestra, SPCO, Minnesota Opera and Malaysian Philharmonic and also have the versatility to perform with jazz/blues groups such as Davina and the Vagabonds and Nooky Jones. Their musicians have recorded individually for Prince, Grammy-winner Big Walter Smith and many other groups.
Tickets - $20. Complimentary admission for students 18 and under when accompanied by an Association member.
