Lunch & Learn: Back in the Day
When
Event Description
Join local author Lonzie Symonette, for a fascinating discussion of her new book. Back In The Day explores the legacy of Payne Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, the first church community for people of color, in 1872. Research, networking, many documentations, collaborations with The Black History Museum of Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak Library District Special Collections, Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum and in-person interviews with pioneer descendants has created a rich, oral historical treasure. Back in The Day is a real Sankofa experience—moving forward in life, while remembering, appreciating and applying the lessons learned from the past.
Visit www.LMSPublishers.com to order a print, eBook, or an abridged audio version (read by the author) of Back In The Day. The book is also for sale in the CSPM Museum Store and the author will be available to sign copies at the conclusion of the program.
