Masterworks 7 Concert

The inspiration for this program is a sense of place and new beginnings. In both works which bookend the concert, Carlos Simon, one of the most eloquent and prolific musical voices in 21st-century American music, and Robert Schumann, the troubled genius who epitomized as much as any artist the breathless Romanticism of 19th-century middle Europe, have their sights on their surroundings.
