Moab Music Festival: Music Hike II: Pain and Redemption
When
Event Description
"Hikers, don your sunscreen and journey to a majestic spot in a magnificent secluded canyon ideal for acoustic music. Among our most popular events, these scenic hikes offer unparalleled musical intimacy and engagement with the artists. At the trailhead, a Canyonlands Field Institute naturalist familiarizes hikers with the terrain and leads them to the scenic concert location.
Cellist Jay Campbell curates a concert of unusual juxtapositions of the old and new, which looks forward to a brighter future after the past year’s hardships and sorrow. The program explores the emotional pain expressed in music from the Baroque composer Matteis and in Dowland’s Renaissance masterpieces. A recent string quartet by Caleb Burhans and Haydn’s “Sunrise” quartet remind us that tomorrow may be full of joy."
NICOLA MATTEIS JR.: Fantasia
DOWLAND: Flow my tears
DOWLAND: Go Crystal Tears
CALEB BURHANS: Contritus
