Event Description

Scouring vintage National Geographics to find rich imagery, Sydney hand-cuts and layers a narrative that transports you through a surreal portal. She creates visual poetry that invites viewers to ponder on certain feelings inspired by dreamscapes and experiences. Her art transports you into a realm where
nostalgia transcends time and space.

Palpable Sentiments is about finding yourself, seeing beauty in everyday life. It expresses finding peace in accepting circumstances you can and cannot change. A plethora of emotions come along with this, from finding strength in yourself and decisions you make to seeing wonder in the mundane. This series
uncovers the essence of human experiences.

Johnny Larson is a Colorado based pop surrealism artist influenced by comic art, graffiti art, classical surrealism and anime. To be oddly specific, the early influences have been cited as Terry Gilliam animations, Kurt Vonnegut Jr books, Liquid television, independent animated films in the 70’s and 80’s, wild style graff and Jim Lee illustration.
Johnny has combined these influences into a unique stew of bizarre and comical illustrations and paintings in his body of work. He enjoys leaving the meaning of his artworks up to the viewer. Subtext is powerful.

Join us on July 5th for a night of art, refreshments, and community. “Palpable Sentiments” by Sydney Wilkerson and “Subtext” by Johnny Larson will open on First Friday and run through the month.
