‘PUNK IS DAD’ IS BACK

After a brief COVID hiatus, Punk Is Dad is back. Influential and emerging independent bands in the Denver music scene will come together for arts and music education on June 17, 2023. The fifth annual ‘PUNK IS DAD’ event will be held at The Black Buzzard at Oskar Blues in Denver and will feature Fast Eddy, Dressy Bessy, and Jaguar Stevens (see attached poster for further details).

‘PUNK IS DAD’ celebrates the memory of Dorian De Long, a lifelong educator, arts advocate and local music aficionado, who passed away in May of 2015. The event raises money for the Dorian De Long Arts & Music (DDAM) Scholarship Foundation, which since 2017 has made $1,500-2,500 awards to students graduating from Colorado high schools for the study of art or music at a Colorado college or university. To date DDAM has disbursed over $40,000 to 10 scholars and just announced their two newest scholars, who will begin their studies in the fall. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) incorporated in the State of Colorado with a budget of under $50,000/year.

Past ‘PUNK IS DAD’ concerts have featured influential Colorado-based acts including The Velveteers, Gasoline Lollipops, The Yawpers, Colfax Speed Queen and Bud Bronson & the Good Timers. This year’s lineup will continue to offer high-energy performances and a good time for a great cause.
