Event Description

In partnership with the Denver Art Museum's “Wild Things: The Art of Maurice Sendak,” CPR Classical presents a live version of its “Behind the Baton” radio feature with Scott O'Neil, the former Colorado Symphony resident conductor. O’Neil will illuminate the genius, inspiration and music of Mozart from the piano as Denver Art Museum Director and “Wild Things” curator Christoph Heinrich recounts what Mozart and other composers unleashed for Sendak. Heinrich will share vivid images of Sendak’s artwork and illustrations from “Where the Wild Things Are,” as well as classics like “A Hole is to Dig” and “Little Bear,” in the DAM’s state-of-the-art Grand Sturm Pavilion.

You can hear Scott O'Neil's “Behind the Baton” radio feature daily on CPR Classical (88.1FM in Denver) in which he uncovers mysteries behind classical music's great works from the piano. On Tuesday, February 4, be part of a live, in-person version of the feature as he reveals the vital role Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played in the creative output of artist and author Maurice Sendak.
