St. John’s Music Society Presents: Bach in Space
When
Event Description
"St. John’s Music Society will be hosting Bach in Space. This family-friendly program will feature in its entirety the wonderful Austin/Morel organ of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Note the later performance time: this is to create an immersive experience as you watch projected 4K videos of our beautiful planet taken from the International Space Station. Dan Barstow, retired Education Manager for the ISS will lead you on your journey from the earth, up to ISS. During this program, you will hear Principal Organist Aaron Hirsch perform works mostly by J.S. Bach, but also featuring Dieterich Buxtehude, Florence Price, Kristina Arakelyan, Ghislaine Reece-Trapp, Olivier Messiaen, and an improvisation by Hirsch as well. After you have observed the earth, and listened to its accompanying music, Dan will return you safely to earth. Following the performance, the organ console will be available for folks to look at, and Dan and Aaron will be able to field any questions you might have."
