Colorado Public Radio (CPR) is seeking a Radio Production and Technical Operations Intern for Summer 2025. This internship has been created for Pikes Peak College students ONLY.
This is not a remote position. This role is expected to work from KRCC in Colorado Springs upon starting.
About the Position:
The production and technical operations intern will support the success of KRCC and Colorado Public Radio by providing production support to our Colorado Springs team. In this role, you will aid in public media content creation, playing a support role for small and large projects where you’ll learn to edit and shape audio to be engaging, on-air content. You’ll make sure music and sound are timed out properly, that the audio adds an appropriate mood to the content, and that the production grabs a listener’s attention. You will learn the skills and thinking behind polished production work and build a portfolio to showcase your skills.
Key Learning objectives for this experience include -
- You will build on skills required to create content with Adobe audition software and record in-studio audio.
- You will learn production skills to create promotional materials which will involve audio editing (considering timing and tone), recording, and script-writing.
- You will learn to conduct and edit testimonial interviews, and host guests in the studio.
- You will learn to organize projects, incorporate feedback and fix errors in production pieces.
- You will learn to build a portfolio of your work to showcase your skills at the end of your internship.
About You:
You are interested in a career in radio or content production or a technical kind of role within the media industry. You’re passionate about audio storytelling and the behind-the-scenes work to make a piece or spot shine. You have basic skills in audio editing and might have used these skills for things like making music, editing music, or podcast creation.
You’re organized and detail-oriented. You use these skills to balance and prioritize your work. You know the importance of planning, but can be adaptable. You know even things that are well planned may have to pivot, so you’re ready to be flexible and creative as challenges arise. You’re able to work well under remote supervision and are a reliable, proactive communicator.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must currently be enrolled at Pikes Peak with a standing of freshman or above
- Basic proficiency in audio/video editing software and an aptitude for learning a variety of digital technology.
- Basic proficiency with Google Suite.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Curiosity about audio storytelling and radio formats.
- Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed procedures.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Dedication to producing content that reflects diverse voices and perspectives.
- Students must be 18 years of age or older.
Education Equivalency:
- This internship is only open to students enrolled at Pikes Peak with a standing of freshman or above.
