The incumbent, Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette has represented the 1st District since 1997. This will be the second election where she has faced her Republican challenger, Casper Stockham.
The district is considered safe for DeGette, yet Stockham — a businessman, motivational speaker and a veteran — sees an opening as he feels that DeGette is underserving the communities that need her the most.
