When Rep. Jared Polis decided to pursue the Colorado governor's mansion, he also opened up congressional seat in District 2 for a new representative.
Democrat Joe Neguse and Republican Peter Yu are vying for the seat. Neguse has served on the University of Colorado Board of Regents and in Gov. John Hickenlooper's cabinet. He unsuccessfully ran against Wayne Williams for Secretary of State in 2014. Yu is a businessman and Loveland native. Both are sons of immigrants.
District 2 — which encompasses Boulder, Fort Collins, Vail and Loveland — has not elected a Republican representative to Congress since 1975.
