Republican Rep. Scott Tipton has represented the 3rd Congressional District since 2011, when he defeated three-term Democrat John Salazar. Like Tipton, his opponent, Diane Mitsch Bush is a former state lawmaker from the Colorado House of Representatives.
The sprawling 3rd District covers the majority of the state's Western Slope as well as most of the the San Luis Valley, swinging up to Pueblo.
