CPR's OpenAir hosts Jessi Whitten and Scott Carney spent last week in Austin, Texas, for the South By Southwest music festival. They attended dozens of concerts throughout the five-day event.
Their favorite shows included those from established artists Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Andrew W.K. and ESG, along with new discoveries like Australian singer-songwriter Stella Donnelly, saxophone-driven punk rockers French Vanilla and Japanese pop-rock quartet CHAI.
They also captured some unique sights from the festival, including memorable band outfits, music-themed cocktails and a very cool cassette vending machine.

Day One
My highlight of #sxsw day 1 was the gift of stumbling into a @weddingpresent show to revel in that classic band while then getting to discover @Numb_er_la who were playing in the adjacent room simultaneously. pic.twitter.com/S3wgV0YpLU
Day Two
Gearing up for @lucydacus at the NPR Showcase tonight with a cocktail inspired by her new album Historian! Both are incredible :) #sxsw pic.twitter.com/wxiQTz40Yu
Day Three
It may be 2:30 on a Thursday but @SH0PP1NG is BRINGING IT. Holy cow! #sxsw pic.twitter.com/E7BTG3qfDh
Day Four
Snail Mail - a band to write home about! (I'm very tired) pic.twitter.com/zRFlCWE74X
Cheers to @thesidewindertx for having one of the coolest vending machines I've ever seen. Which one would you pick? pic.twitter.com/pqdsykGoJ2
Day Five
Yes, that is Ron Gallo playing a guitar with a trumpet. Catch him at Lost Lake Lounge April 12th! You won't regret it. #sxsw pic.twitter.com/Uq5znKvPYE
