Mark Johnstone, a documentary filmmaker and photo historian, tells Colorado Matters about a short film he co-directed about Bishop called “Wish You Were Here.” According to the documentary’s notes on Bishop's website, he got his start in photography after serving in the Navy during World War II. He also photographed the first photography conference held in the United States, which was in 1951 at the Hotel Jerome in Aspen.
