A cassette of Irish drinking songs was the start of Denver musician Adam Goldstein's love affair with Celtic music. This enduring fascination led to starting a band with two other Colorado musicians: violinist CL Morden and multi-instrumentalist Aeryk Parker. They call themselves Avourneen, and Irish folk music is a genre that has fared well for the trio.

Since launching in 2014, and releasing a debut album titled "Beloved" later that year, Avourneen has been named the house band at downtown Denver's largest Irish pub, Katie Mullen's. On St. Patrick's Day, Goldstein spoke with Colorado Matters host Nathan Heffel.
