Colorado Celtic band Avourneen along with their musical family, celebrate their 10th anniversary this year.

A fixture on Colorado's Celtic music scene is marking a milestone. Avourneen was founded a decade ago, by singer-songwriter Adam Goldstein, along with fiddle player Cieran Morden. Goldstein grew up in Aurora, with no ties to Celtic culture. But in his teens, he found a cassette of Irish folk songs and was hooked.

If you're curious about the word Avourneen, “It’s a term of affection,” said Goldstein, “It means beloved or dear one.”

For their 10th anniversary show at Denver's Mercury Café on Thursday, September 19, 2024, Avourneen teams up with friends they've made on Colorado's Celtic scene, including members of The Commoners and Colcannon.

Avourneen, meanwhile, is working on a new album.
