When Bailey Loving was in medical school at the University of Colorado, he said, "I was the only one in the room who looked like me." That sense of uncertainty and not belonging -- felt by many Black doctors in the field -- is part of the impetus behind "Black Men in White Coats," a program designed to offer support and increase the number of Black doctors. There is an event Saturday on the CU Anschutz campus designed to inspire children and their parents to generate interest in medical careers. Dr. Shanta Zimmer is an infectious disease specialist and Senior Associate for Medical Education for the CU School of Medicine and worked to coordinate the event.
