Colorado Mesa University Athletic Director Kimberly Miller, photographed in the Maverick Center’s natatorium, is the first African American to hold the position.

Kimberly Miller is Colorado Mesa University's first Black woman athletic director. She's also the first Black woman AD in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, made up of 16 schools across Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and South Dakota. The North Carolina native started her new job just before the fall semester started, and she's been getting acclimated. Her goal is to make sure there's equity for everyone in all areas of sport at CMU.
