The state’s second largest city, Colorado Springs, celebrates its sesquicentennial on Saturday, July 31, meaning it was founded 150 years ago. There were already people there; Garden of the Gods for example, was considered a sacred space for Indigenous people. But in 1871, Colorado Springs was born. The official celebration of Colorado Springs' sesquicentennial kicks off Saturday with a Parade through Time starting at 11:00 a.m. in downtown, followed by a festival that also honors the Olympics.
