Drive south of Denver on I-25 and you’ll see it. A massive blue and yellow building with a whopper of a sign next to it. Colorado’s first IKEA opened in 2011. The furniture store’s success has made its founder one of the richest people in the world and the brand has achieved an almost cult-like status since starting in Sweden in the 1940s. Maria Perers is a curator and scholar at Nordiska Museet, Sweden’s main museum of cultural history. She joins Ryan Warner. (Interview originally aired June 16, 2011)
