A team of Colorado filmmakers has released the most sweeping account of the Civil War since Ken Burns' highly regarded documentary series in 1990.
The five-part series "Civil War: The Untold Story" tracks the Civil War's western campaign, examining battles like Shiloh in Southwestern Tennessee. It argues that the fighting in the western theater was critical to the success of the Union army.
Denver's Great Divide Pictures produced the series, which is narrated by actress Elizabeth McGovern of "Downton Abbey." It airs beginning Thursday, April 10, on Rocky Mountain PBS.
