The songs on the Boulder blues singer’s new album, “Fantasizing About Being Black,” are haunting vignettes about the African-American experience. In one song, a black man in an interracial relationship knows he has to leave the country or he will be killed. In another, an African-American slave in shackles is slowly losing his mind.
“I’ve taken all of my thoughts about the history of racial injustice and created a musical interpretation for modern times,” Taylor says of the album, his 15th.
Taylor spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner.
