Like a lot of teenagers, CJ Macleod, Ethan Hill and Molly Bartlett talked about forming a band. Talk turned into action when the three Denver high school kids were invited to play a set at a show in late 2010. They convinced their friend Samantha “Sammi” Davis to join the group on drums and SAUNA was born.
Unlike most other teenage bands, the group has enjoyed quite a bit of success. In the last year, their retro sound has earned them positive writeups in the local press and last month, they played for their biggest audience to-date -- opening for the B-52s in Aspen and at the Ogden Theater in Denver.
We sample some of their music and hear a small preview from an interview that will air Wednesday, January 18th on OpenAir.
